Explore Nant-y-Pandy Slate Works with Fiona Gale
November 3 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pmFree
This is an event organised by Penny Foreman of the Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust, CPAT, to which FoCRDV are invited.
Explore the Nant y Pandy slate works in a beautiful secluded valley. Meet at the Owain Glyndwr Institute in Glyndyfrydwy, on the A5 at SJ 148426. There is parking behind the Institute and Penny will stand by the entrance to the track to indicate where to park. The walk is about 1.5 miles, up a gently sloping valley, to the source of power for the slate works, returning following the tramlines which shipped the finished product to the railway line. Not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies and it will be muddy in places. The walk will take around two hours and visits a scheduled ancient monument and a Special Area of Conservation/ Site of Special Scientific Interest.
