Guided Tour of Denbigh Castle
In 1282, Edward 1st in his conquest of Wales, captured the town of Denbigh. His trusted Lieutenant, Henry de Lacy, immediately started to build the castle. It was captured and held briefly by the Welsh under Madog ap Llewelyn, but then lost again.
It was severely damaged in the 17th Century civil war and is now in need of a little care and attention.
Paul Williams, CADW’s Custodian off Denbigh Castle has agreed to provide a guide for a guided tour of the castle. (CADW is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, equivalent to the English Heritage organisation.)
There will be a small charge for entry; £3.40 for Seniors and £4.20 for Non-Seniors; the guide will be provided free of charge.
Timings are yet to be agreed.
